Cristiano Ronaldo beats Lionel Messi to become Best Player of the Year at the 2019 Globe Soccer Awards

Globe Soccer Awards: Cristiano Ronaldo moved to Juventus in July after winning his third consecutive UCL title with Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi did not feature in the top three.


Cristiano Ronaldo is given the Best Player of the Year honour at the Globe Soccer Awards.
Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo was declared as the Best Player of the Year at the 2019 Globe Soccer Awards on Thursday at a ceremony in Dubai, winning the award for the third year in a row. The Portuguese also received the Fans' Award at the ceremony in the United Arab Emirates. Ronaldo defeated out Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann and Paris Saint-Germain sensation Kylian Mbappe to be crowned the best player in the world.
Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes was given the agent of the year honour in Dubai. Globe Soccer Awards is thought to be the third-most prestigious football award ceremony in the world after FIFA's The Best and the Ballon d'Or.
After the receiving the award, Ronaldo posted on social media thanking the organisers for their appreciation and care.
"What better way to start the new year. Thanks for the appreciation and the care that I have received today," Ronaldo said in an Instagram photo along with Mendes.
The other winners at the award ceremony were France coach Didier Deschamps who was adjudged the coach of the year for guiding Les Blues to the World Cup title and Brazillian legend Ronaldo was given the Player Career Award. Deschamps was given the award ahead of former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane, Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid, Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri. 
The other top prize was the best club of the year and Spanish side Atletico Madrid was recognized as the winners. 
Ronaldo moved to Juventus from Real Madrid in 2018 for a fee of 100 million euros. He has had a tremendous start to his Serie A career after becoming the top scorer in the league with 14 goals.
Juventus are currently on a winter break and return to action on January 12 in a Coppa Italia round of 16 match against Bologna. After that, Ronaldo would take part in a blockbuster clash against AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana final on January 16.
